Chemistry Orbital Model Project

Chemistry Orbital Model Project

What I used:

  • Bouncy ball from Dollar Tree
  • 2 packages of Silly Putty from Dollar Tree
  • Kebob Skewers
  • Acrylic Paint
  • 2 Round Wood Plaques from Hobby Lobby
  • Hot Glue

Kate (my daughter) called me in the middle of the school day the other day. My first thought was something was wrong but she just wanted to ask me “if it was ok” to do a model for Chemistry for extra credit.

So here is what I was told it looked like because Chemistry is my worst subject and I would have told her a big heck no on the project had it not involved hot glue

Also I was instructed NOT to use Styrofoam balls which was going to be my go to.  So I hit up the dollar tree.  Some good stuff. This “emoji” bouncy ball was great for Kebab-ing. He seemed to be truly horrified.  The silly putty wouldn’t have been my first choice but I needed and “egg-like” shape and plastic eggs are not in season.

And viola!  Extra Credit!!  The Chemistry teacher said he liked it so much he wanted to keep it on display 🙂
